Porsche 968 all-electric

The Porsche 968 was the last model from Porsche with a transaxle, i.e. an engine in the front and the transmission in the rear. The car had been held by Till Marton for several years. Out of technical interest, but also for ecological reasons, Till and Silvia Marton wanted to have the car converted into an electric vehicle in 2011. However, it took two attempts, two garage changes and four long years of apprenticeship before it became a roadworthy electric car.

DC motor

A DC electric motor with a maximum output of 166 kW (225 hp) and a maximum torque of 300 Nm is used to replace the combustion engine.

Battery box in front

Front batteries, connected in series with the batteries in the rear, with a total energy of 35 kWh and a nominal voltage of 288 V.

Control unit

Controls and monitors the engine and the power electronics.

Original axle with gearbox (transaxle)

DCDC converter

Converts the high-voltage of the batteries to 12 volts.

Charger

The charger has an output of 3.6 kW and is supplied with power via a 1-phase CEE 16 A charging socket.

Emergency stop

An emergency stop switch has been installed, which can be operated by the driver to cut off the power supply to the high-voltage battery.

Electric DIY Porsche

Silvia and Till Marton converted their sports car into an electric car. They do not see any contradiction between ecological thinking and fast cars. On the contrary: Switzerland's probably first self-built E-Porsche is even particularly sporty to drive.
