DMC DeLorean
No vehicle represents the future more than the DeLorean DMC-12 – thanks to its cineastic past, but also thanks to its futuristic design, which still seems so today. However, to be honest, both the so-called Euro engine and the rather conservative interior design of the vehicle never really fitted in.
Our DeLorean was therefore not only given an electric drive, but also a new interior.
The future is ready to come.
INTERIOR
Even after more than 40 years, the exterior of the DeLorean still looks modern and futuristic. The interior, on the other hand, bears the clear signature of the 1980s. And with the conversion to electric drive at the latest, it no longer fits the character of the car at all.
It started with the desire for more sporty seats, but developed further over the course of the project. With great attention to detail, we created a bespoke interior for the customer.
Seats
The original seats covered in crumpled leather provided the stimulus for the redesign. In collaboration with the upholsterer, we created seats specially tailored to the customer.
Dash board
The shape of the new dashboard was created directly in the vehicle. The resulting model then served as the basis for the production of the new dashboard.
Door panel
In order to harmonise visually, but also for functional reasons, the door panels were redesigned. This also affected less obvious details such as the connections for the ventilation.
Displays
The analogue gauges were substituted with screens. A special colour and font concept was developed for their design.
Window regulator
The small details make the difference. Even the window regulators have been redesigned. From the sketch to the switch produced with a 3D printer and finished with a coat of paint.
Charging socket
Not on the interior, but also a purpose-made design: The charge door. The petrol tank opening used to be under the front bonnet. Now the CCS socket is hidden behind a ventilation inlet in the rear that is no longer needed. Visually in the same style, but now realised as a flap.
